A culturally conscious marriage is not simply found. It's built consciously and intentionally.
Grounded Culturally Conscious Relationship Coaching
"Where couples learn to belong to each other without losing themselves"

Your relationship is not broken. You might just be in the middle of birthing a third culture marriage.

When the stakes are this high, your marriage deserves more than good intentions from both parties. I help couples take the best of their individual cultural foundations and intentionally build a third culture marriage that you both fully belong in.

your culture your partner's culture your third culture
Two cultural foundations. One marriage, consciously built.
Who I Serve

Built for couples navigating different cultural and family foundations in those moments when the stakes are higher than ever.

Cross-Cultural Couples

Partners from different countries, ethnicities, or racial backgrounds building a shared life, even with real differences.

Interfaith & Faith-Centered Couples

Couples navigating different faith traditions, or couples who share one and want to honor it when they see things differently.

Immigrant & First-Generation Couples

Partners balancing the expectations of their families back home with the lives they're building in a different country.

Every Couple with Two Family Systems

Whether you are high school sweethearts or met on a dating app, each one of you brings a different culture to the new family system. "Every marriage is a third culture waiting to be built."

The Work

A third culture marriage builds on the best parts of your individual cultural foundations. Intentionally and consciously.

As a couple, you are building a culture together whether you mean to or not. How you handle money. How you fight. How you raise children, treat in-laws, practice faith, show love. Most couples inherit these rules from their families by accident, and then spend years fighting rules and cultural foundations neither of them actually chose.

A third culture marriage is different. You both take a look at each of your cultural scripts, name it, and then decide together what you get to keep in your marriage, what you leave behind, and what you will create from scratch. You don't build on your family's rules, or your spouse's family scripts, but on a new foundation you get to choose together.

I serve as a relational midwife. I've walked alongside many couples like you, helping them as they birth a new third culture marriage. I know when to intervene and when to say "you're doing great, keep going." When you work with me, you're working with someone who:

  • Has lived between cultures and knows many of the unspoken rules on both sides
  • Knows personally what it costs to belong in spaces that were not built with you in mind
  • Built a research-grounded framework and a couples' assessment for exactly this work
  • Believes your marriage deserves the same intentional design as anything else you've built

"I help birth new third culture marriages."

The Framework

Six pillars, rooted in The BELONG Framework™

Cultural intelligence is at the root of all my work. These six pillars come from my life work on belonging and The BELONG Framework™, adapted for marital relationships. Each piece of the framework helps you as we go about doing the work of building your third culture marriage with deliberate input from you.

Pillar 01

Grounded Boundaries

The line between "me" and "we," created with consent rather than inherited or defaulted to.

Pillar 02

Cultural Attunement

Understanding your partner's world, including the one they came from, without feeling the need for them to mirror yours.

Pillar 03

Mutual Leverage

Your individual strengths, deployed for the relationship instead of against it. No more defaulting to roles that may be breeding quiet resentment.

Pillar 04

Balanced Orientation

Your individual needs get named, acknowledged and given the weight they deserve. No individual partner's needs get to be assumed and invisible.

Pillar 05

Rooted Individuality

You still know and recognize who you are inside the "we" you build together. Two whole people making a stronger union.

Pillar 06

Grace in Repair

When one of you gets it wrong, you get to repair without keeping score. Repair becomes a practiced skill, not a hoped-for or presumed outcome.

Why This Work? Why Now?

Many couples never get the culturally attuned relationship coaching their marriage deserves. With GCC, you get exactly that.

Psychological Rigor

Every coaching engagement begins with a validated-style couples' assessment. Each partner's perspective builds into one shared picture. A coaching program built on what your data shows over time.

Cultural fluency

A deep understanding of cross-cultural contexts and the translation work couples need when two different foundations collide. As an organizational psychologist and relational midwife, cultural intelligence is at the root of everything I do.

Structure and grace

A defined coaching window with real results for couples who engage with intention. You'll always know where you are and what comes next.

The Program

A structured window into the building of your new foundations.

When you coach with GCC, you'll leave each session knowing where you are, what's next, and what your goals are.

1

The Relational Belonging Assessment

Before we meet, each partner independently completes the GCC Relational Belonging Scale (The GCC-RBS). The assessment will ensure your two perspectives get mapped onto one shared picture, and we begin wherever the maps show the greatest difference.

2

Six pillars-focused sessions

One focused session per pillar with its own guided at-home conversation, and take-home cards. We focus on areas highlighted through your assessment.

3

Your Belonging Agreement

The capstone. You get to work on and create a living document that captures the third culture you want to build, based on your boundaries, your strengths, your needs, and how you find your way back to each other after conflict.

4

The 30-day check-in

One month later we reconvene, and focus on what was left unsaid and what still needs building.

Want to check your current marriage culture?

Take the GCC-RBS Quick Check

Take it alone (and invite your partner to take it separately). You'll see which of the six pillars feels strong in your relationship right now and where you are likely to need a new foundation. Then let's chat.

This Quick Check is only a snapshot. The complete Relational Belonging Scale, taken by both partners, is included for free when we work together.

Optional Faith-Rooted Track

For faith-centered couples who desire to weave a scriptural foundation inside the work.

"Be kind and compassionate to one another…" (Ephesians 4:32a)

If your faith is central to your marriage, at GCC you don't get to leave it at the door. On the Faith-Rooted track, each of the six pillars is anchored in scripture: boundaries as stewardship, attunement as Paul's posture in cultural differences, repair as grace already received.

You get to work with the same six pillars and the accompanying assessment, plus a shared spiritual language layered within the work, for couples who want it. Simply ask for it during our discovery call.

Your Cultural Foundations Guide
and Relationship Midwife
Dr. Otito Frances Iwuchukwu standing with arms crossed in a white blazer, smiling

I've spent my career studying why and how people belong, and what they can do about it.

I'm Dr. Otito Frances Iwuchukwu: certified psychoeducational, prevention and relationship educator, organizational psychologist, CQ® Certified Facilitator, and author of The Belonging Paradox. Cultural intelligence is at the root of all the work I do, and it shows up as the key question beneath every successful relationship: how do two people from two cultural foundations build a shared life successfully?

I built The BELONG Framework™ to answer the question of personal and interpersonal belonging, and I've seen it change how people show up in boardrooms, classrooms, and communities. The relationship coaching we do here at GCC brings it down to the unit level, the home, your home, a place where your two cultures meet and where a third one is waiting to be designed and built from the ground up.

I come to this work as a scientist who insists on structure, a woman of faith who knows what grace costs, and a partner who understands the labor involved in building a third culture from the inside.
